I started making wine under my own name in 2004 and named the wines after my wife and three kids. The club is that same family idea: a box I put together myself, with older vintages from my own cellar and wines you won't find easily on a shelf.
MilesBoth memberships include exactly the same quarterly wine club. The only difference is that one includes a seat at the launch lunch for the first release.
Everything in The Family Wine Club, and a seat at the launch lunch in your first quarter.
Every quarter, one box, put together by Miles. Here is what's inside it.
Or four bottles and a magnum. Any make-up that comes to six bottles of wine.
Back-vintages from my cellar, held and released only to the club.
Straight to your door, every quarter, at no extra cost.
On anything else you order from us while you're a member.
First pick, before a wine goes out to everyone else.
Food and wine with us, twice a year, members only.
From the second release onwards, I may occasionally include a bottle from a winemaker friend whose wines I enjoy. The first box will be entirely my own wines.
Not this time. The whole idea is that I do the choosing. Some wines are current releases, some have been tucked away in my cellar for years, and every box is put together because I think the wines belong together.
If there's something you really don't enjoy drinking, tell me. Otherwise, I'd love you to trust me.
MilesEvery year I keep a little wine back. Some bottles need a bit more time, while others are simply too good to let go all at once. Over the years those bottles become something rather special because they're no longer available anywhere else.
Being part of the club means I get to open that corner of the cellar for you.
For the first release, every bottle is my own. Down the line I might include a wine from a winemaker friend, someone whose bottles I love drinking and think belong next to mine.
But the club is built around my own journey and the wines my family and I have spent years making, so those stay at the heart of it.
MilesFair point. A magnum holds exactly the same as two standard bottles, so four bottles plus one magnum is still six bottles of wine.
People have been asking me to do something like this for years. I wanted a way to share wines that rarely leave the cellar, tell a few stories behind them, and build something that felt a little more personal than simply placing another order online.
This felt like the right way to do it.
MilesBoth memberships receive the same wines, discounts, invitations and benefits throughout the year. The only difference is how the journey begins.
Choose the launch lunch and we'll share a meal together, open a few bottles, and you'll head home with your wooden box in the boot of your car instead of waiting for the courier.
No. That first payment includes your first quarterly box and your launch lunch seat. After that, everyone pays R2500 per quarter.
Delivery is included anywhere in South Africa, at no extra cost. Wherever you are in the country, your box arrives at your door.
Of course. Life changes, holidays happen, people move house. If you need to pause for a quarter, just let me know before the next box goes out and we'll work it out together.
Definitely not. One quarter there might be a magnum. Another might include a wine I've been ageing for years. Sometimes there'll be something from the farm tucked inside as well.
I want every delivery to feel like opening something that couldn't have arrived any other season.
Absolutely. If you know someone who enjoys opening a bottle, I'd be delighted to send the club to them instead. Just let me know when you sign up and we'll make sure everything arrives in the right name.
Sometimes. I might give away a little hint, but I won't spoil everything. Part of the enjoyment is opening the box and discovering something you weren't expecting.
Then you're exactly the sort of person I had in mind. The club isn't only about current releases. It's about older vintages, different formats, small surprises and wines that aren't usually available anymore.
Hopefully there'll still be something in every box that makes you smile.
MilesThat happens. We'll arrange delivery with you first, so there shouldn't be any surprises. If plans change, just let us know and we'll find another day that works.
If I still have the wine available, absolutely. Some of the older vintages are very limited, so I can't always promise there'll be more, but if there are bottles left, you'll have first opportunity before anyone else.
As soon as the first release is ready to go. Once you've joined, I'll keep you updated with the delivery dates, so you'll know exactly when to expect it.
Not at all. If you've been collecting wine for years, or you've simply found a few bottles you've loved along the way, you're very welcome here. If you're curious and enjoy opening something good with friends or family, you'll fit in just fine.
Because wine doesn't need to arrive every month to be exciting. Quarterly gives me enough time to choose the wines carefully, include older vintages, and make sure every box feels worth waiting for.
I'd rather send you four memorable deliveries than twelve forgettable ones.
