Chenin Blanc
The Introduction
Chenin Blanc
2023
The wine displays a brilliant pale straw colour. The nose is filled with complex aromas of white floral, yellow peach, pineapple and citrus notes. The palate is marked by fresh fruit on the entry with hints of grapefruit and stone fruits. The mid-palate is creamy yet with poised clarity, leading to a textured pithy finish with stunning freshness.

The grapes originate from old un-irrigated bushvine and trellised vineyards in Stellenbosch (84%) and from the Swartland (16%).
The grapes are hand-picked at various times and ripeness to express both the fresh stone fruit characters of Chenin blanc as well as the riper yellow fruit notes whilst still retaining acidity and freshness.
The fruit was whole-bunch pressed to tank for settling overnight. 80% of the wine fermented in stainless steel, 18% in old 400L French oak barrels and 2% in a concrete egg.
The fermentation commenced with natural yeasts and took approximately three weeks to complete. The wines matured for 6 months on the gross lees before being blended and bottled.
The wine was bottled in August 2023.
